Case Study: Adopcia
The adoption platform of the Slovak animal welfare association Sloboda Zvierat, with real-time updates and sponsoring features for animals in the association's care.
Starting point
Sloboda Zvierat cares for animals that need a new home, or financial support until they find one. The association needed its own platform for this: one where the status of every animal stays current, and one that covers sponsorships and donations, not just adoption. And since the association runs on donations and volunteer work, the platform had to stay affordable to operate in the long run.
Solution
Adopcia presents the animals in the association's care with their details and photos. When an animal is adopted or a new one arrives, the change shows up on the platform right away thanks to real-time updates. On top of that, sponsoring features let supporters fund single animals or the association's work as a whole. Adoption and sponsoring deliberately run on one shared platform: the association maintains one system instead of several, and visitors don't have to find their way between different websites.
Technical decisions
The frontend is built with Vue.js, a good fit for a reactive interface that updates in real time. Status changes appear without a manual reload. Hosting and backend infrastructure run on AWS Amplify. Authentication, data storage, and APIs come as managed services there, which cuts the effort of running your own server infrastructure. For a non-profit with limited technical resources, that makes a real difference in day-to-day operation.
Result
Adopcia is live. The association shows the animals in its care and collects support for its work on the same platform. Vue.js and AWS Amplify keep the technical effort small, and visitors always see the current picture: which animals are up for adoption and which sponsoring options are open.
